Ever curious, and noticing the telltale lack of sideburns, upper-lip shadow, or 'Alyssa Milano' arm hair commonly found on even the most beautiful of Italian women,I did a little on-line detective work to check the veracity of the email's contents.(I tend to do this).

After discovering the same joke being displayed on a popular humor site HERE,and being posted on several other blogs, I finally arrived at The Truth.

Turns out the lovely babe is actually Pamela David,a very popular model in Argentina,a Playboy cover girl , and the photos are from a Chilean talk show where she was appearing as a guest. Here's more important info on Pamela David
And Here!
I also found some videos, but will not link to them.(NSFW, and I have my limits.)

But none of this is important.
What really matters is that I just found a good explanation to post pictures of Pamela David on my own blog.
Just a charitable service for my readers. No need to thank me.
Well, OK... you can thank me.

I Told You So...

I had said that the Mainstream Media would get around to tying Willard with an element of Mormonism's unsavory past.

And it didn't take long for my prediction to come around.
From ABC News:LINK

Damn near every Mormon with a deep family history within the faith has a polygamist grandfather somewhere. There is no news in this news article. It's reason for publishing is solely for the purpose of publicly embarrassing Willard.

The hypocrisy here, at least in my eyes, is that the same media made a plethora of excuses to cover Bill Clinton's marital indiscretions while in the Oval Office.

Willard has already publicly condemned polygamy.
And he still has only had one wife. And no known indiscretions.

The question: Why must a Mormon publically condemn a past practice of his faith that he does not employ, while a 'pass' is given to others who discard marriages, or routinely disregard the promises made within their own.

And Now, Some Sanity From The Political World

LINK
Something is just plain wrong when a citizen is required, by law, to retreat from confrontation when his home is invaded. The sanctity of a man's home must be recognised, and defended, if it is to be his home at all.
That's just the way I feel about it.

It's good to see that at least they 'get it' in North Dakota.

What Happens Here...

You've all seen the commercials advertising Las Vegas as the premier party town, amplified with the slogan "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas", a unique city where one can live out their wildest self-indulgent fantasies, and then leave it all behind, as if nothing happened.

The American political process has it's own Vegas in Iowa. Politicians flock there to indulge their own fantasies of self-importance and grandiosity, living out their hopeful dream that they can actually be President. Success in the Vaudeville show here is proof, lock solid proof, that you are the front runner, and assured the smooth road to the White House. Well, at least for a week or two, anyway.

Fact is: What happens in Iowa, Stays In Iowa.
Check out the record: *LINK*

Only about roughly 1/2 of the Iowa victors go on to be crowned by their party.

And with only one exception, Bush in 2000,anybody who has actually won a competitive primary, starting in Iowa, has failed to win the Presidency.

So it comes as no surprise that Tom Vilsack,(who's Tom Vilsack?) having already won the approval of Iowa voters years ago, as their Governor, has summarily dropped out of the Democrat Presidential primary. And so soon, too. (I'd say it's pretty bad when the only people who even know you exist can't be counted on to recognise you exist, don't you think?)
Actually,Tom, they did you a favor, sparing you from the inevitable disappointment Iowa winners are fated for. Now you have the next 21 months to just enjoy life for a while.

Iowa: What Happens Here, Stays Here.

Find The Illegal Immigrant

In an attempt to prove a point, and gain some publicity, college Republicans do what they tend to do: illustrate reality as they see it.

I remember back some short time ago, a level of stink was raised when a college Republican group,I cant remember where, held a cookie sale, offering lower prices for minority students and higher prices for white males. Naturally, the affirmative action crowd was all spazzed out seeing affirmative action practiced by the wrong people.

Republican students are at it again over at NYU.
This time, its the "Find The Illegal Immigrant" game. Cute idea, kind of.
Detailed here:.*LINK*

They're doing it wrong, of course. Both sides are. If the idea is to illustrate reality, its gotta be real. There is nobody looking for illegal immigrants.

To drive the point home, they need to identify the Illegal Immigrant, and then pretend they cant find him.
At that point, the Democrat students, instead of protesting, can counter-demonstrate by moving the Illegal Immigrant to the front of the cafeteria/bookstore/registration/whatever line, ahead of the legal immigrant students, and then subsidize his purchases.

Sometimes You Dont Really Know Where Its Going...

I really expected to get a few comments/insights on my "Willard" post from the 3 regular visitors from Massachusettes, who I assume would know him better than I do.
It was not to be.

I absolutely did not expect my Duncan Hunter post to be 'googled',cut and pasted, and then linked, on the New Republic message boards.
Thanks dude.
Feel free to visit again.

The Walking Talking Platform

Little known, and for some strange reason, fully ignored by the press is Duncan Hunter. 14 term congressman from San Diego county. Duncan has all the proper policy positions to place him as the favorite of the GOP base. The difference, though, is that these are not policy positions for him. They are much deeper than that. What he has are principle beliefs. Unlike Willard, who's positions evolve, or... whatever...

Duncan is the same as he has always been. Pro-Life. Honestly believes in the Second Amendment as written. Opposes income taxation. Supports free trade. Believes in strong border enforcement. Mindful of Privacy Rights. Opposes same-sex marriage. Takes a strong stand on pornography and child access. Supports school vouchers. Very pro-military, and most important, pro-serviceman, pro-vet, and anti-Pentagon waste. Has vocally, and legislatively, opposed the Kelo decision. Not only volunteered for Vietnam, served in the 173AB, and Army Rangers, but also has a son currently serving. On war and military issues, he has more 'street cred' than anybody from either party.

A grassroots conservative, he came up not through the Ivy Leagues, but from the common class. He is most like mainstream America in terms of background and upbringing. His 14 terms in Congress is preceded by an early career as a farmer, construction worker, and eventual storefront Lawyer in an immigrant neighborhood.

Policy wise, the right-wingers dream candidate, with 28yrs of legislative record to prove it.

I suspect, despite his low name recognition, the grassroots will turn out for him in the early primaries. If he can pull a surprisingly strong showing, early, he will take Willard's faith-values-taxes-business base, wiping that Donny and Marie smile right off his face, while shooting down war-hero-POW McCain for the final time.

I honestly cant see Willard,John, or Rudy delivering the GOP acceptance speech. Not that I see Duncan doing it, either. I don't think he has the stage personae required to ignite passion. But who else could there be? All three major(according to the MSM) candidates have issues that turn off a dedicated portion of the GOP base. Duncan Hunter is the only one that unites them all.

The Lives Of Others

Also known by the German title Das Leben Der Anderen
This film takes place in the twilite of the East German police state, where the ubiquitous Stasi knew everything about everybody.
A popular East German playwright,Georg Dryman, comes under suspicion for unpatriotic activities. In this case, it is his lack of suspicious activity that leads to suspicion since nobody is, after all, above suspicion. Such is the mental workings of the Stasi agents, who even spy on each other.

When Stasi Capt Gerd Wiesler wires Dreyman's apartment, and personally mans the survelliance station, he is impressed with Dreyman's devotion to his girlfriend, and his close circle of black-listed artist/writer/actor/director friends. Over time, the Stasi agent grows to admire what Dreyman posesses in his life, and how it contrasts with his own empty, loveless, and lonely existence.
Wiesler then assumes the role of invisable fairy godfather: erasing incriminating statements, destroying evidence, and stonewalling the investigation.

Lots of suprising twists in this screenplay. Just when you think you know what will happen next, an unexpected curve in the road of events is placed before you. A great, and very believable, spy thriller without all that 'James Bond' action stuff or exploding ink pens, combined with a morality play and the broken lives that ensue when shattered trust and betrayal become methods of self preservation in a culture ruled by fear, where creativity and passion are devastating liabilities, and those you love are most in danger.

The only 'wrong' thing I noticed: much of the film takes place in the dead of winter(December through March). Isnt there usually snow/ice on the ground at this time in the region formerly known as East Germany? Instead of winter cold, the outdoor scenes look more like cool, moist and gloomy. But none of this detracts from the storytelling.

I highly recommend this film to be seen.

Willard

Whenever I hear this name, I think of that horror flick from the '70s by the same title. Maybe you elders might 'member it? About some nerdy kid who trains/organizes the rats living in his mom's house. Under his command, they begin some sort of reign of terror and vengeance on his behalf (or something like that). It's been very long time. And I think they've done a recent remake that nobody has admitted to seeing.
Anyway...
This is really about a different kind of nerdy kid. The GOP variety. The wealthy rich-kid-over-achiever from a political dynasty who smiles way too broadly for me to take seriously, but is just tailor-made for media. Yeah, naturally, his latest gig is running for president.
Far more educated than MSM darling Obama, Willard Mitt Romney sports a tremendous resume'. Graduated Summa Cum Laude from BYU. Joint JD/MBA from Harvard. Graduated near the top of his class. Named a Baker Scholar. CEO. Venture Capitalist. Savior of the Salt Lake Olympic Games. Author. Successful GOP governor of a Democrat state. He speaks well, and is very articulate for a white man.
He has already shown more political and administrative competence, on top of his real world business success, to earn more respect than Obama in the press. But such is not the case. Through their giddy Obama fetish, the press bias is already showing.*link* (No word yet on when the Obama action figure hits the market. I suspect it's just a rumor).

I'm predicting, should Willard turn out to be a force for the nomination, he will be called to answer for his Mormon faith. Should he actually get the nomination, expect to see attempts in the media, or the Hillary campaign, to tie him to Mormonism's history of racism, or questions asking if he really believes women should be treated as breeders by The Patriarchy. Mormonism will be a topic of this campaign, and I sincerely doubt it will center around it's adherent's' reputation for sobriety and family centered values. (anybody still remember the attempts to drape the Connecticut Yankee Heritage of George W. Bush in the Confederate flag?).

It remains to be seen whether or not this Willard will be able to command the rats that infest the Washington establishment. Personally, I don't think he'll get that far.

i know. been nearly a week...

i'll be back this weekend later today with another movie review,
and thoughts on Willard.
Relax, have a drink or two,... a bite to eat, take a nap...
i'll be back after i finish the carpet cleaning.

In Pathetic Memory

"I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in anyway the social and political equality of the white and black races -

that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people;

and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality.

And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race.

I say upon this occasion I do not perceive that because the white man is to have the superior position the negro should be denied everything."

Abraham Lincoln

"My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery.
If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it;
and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that.
What I do about slavery, and the colored race, I do because I believe it helps to save the Union;
and what I forbear, I forbear because I do not believe it would help to save the Union.
I shall do less whenever I shall believe what I am doing hurts the cause,
and I shall do more whenever I shall believe doing more will help the cause."

Letters From Iwo Jima

I ventured to the theater last night to check out Letters From Iwo Jima. Clint Eastwood delivers a real winner here. Set on the island of Iwo Jima, the movie tells the story of the battle from the perspective of the Japanese soldier.

Its a great movie, with lots of fine acting and special effects. There is a share of blood and gore, but not quite as much as say... Saving Private Ryan had. The blood is there, lots of it, but the camera doesn't center on it, instead focusing on the reactions and emotions of the soldiers.
Eastwood manages to pull the humanity out of the characters and draw you in that direction instead. He drags you right into the caves, and makes you a part of the Japanese soldier's life.
Much of the action centers on Saigo, a young draftee who would rather be back home with his wife and the baby daughter he has never seen. He's more of a survivor than a soldier, but he does his duty, flinchingly, looking for a way to escape the horrors around him, even if that escape is only through his memories and letters.

Parallel to Saigo's story, there are the experiences of the commanding General Kuribayashi, as he prepares the island, and it's defenders, for the final battle-to-the-death against American forces. He knows he will die, and is prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice in defense of his people. As he says: "Every day we hold out, is one more day my children will live in peace in Japan". This is his motivation for prolonging the inevitable:defeat and death.

I must admit to large level of emotional discomfort while watching the film. I had an uncle, who I actually did get to know, who fought the island hopping campaign in the USMC. He fought, and survived, every battle, every island, before he was 19yrs old. So, whenever I watch a movie or documentary of the war in the South Pacific, I have this emotional cheering inside my soul. Uncle Vic, at barely 5ft 8in, was larger than Rambo. He never spoke about it, but everybody else did. He was real. In our family, he was a hero. (In his mind, he was just another marine.) Knowing he got 'hit' at Iwo conflicted greatly with my connection to the Japanese soldiers I had developed throughout the film.

This movie is pure art-house war drama. I can appreciate that, but may be a reason why many won't be seeing it. That is a shame.

In short, this movie brings out the humanity and goodness of both sides in a bitter struggle. Instead of the politics, you see the victims of the politics. But that is the way of the history, ain't it? Those who pay the biggest price in war are those who are at the bottom of ladder.

In the end, you walk out knowing this movie isn't about what side of the war was right or wrong. Instead, you understand that what is right or wrong for the individual in his circumstances is what really matters. This, I think, is the real message behind the movie.
"Do what is right. Because it is right." This will be the quote you walk away with, and take with you.

The "O"-Bama-gasm

OK, after much anticipation, liberal drooling and near-begging, this neophyte just announced, and now it's official. Barack Obama, the Illinois half-breed with satellite-dish ears is running for president.

In reality, this is a Main Stream Media created campaign. If Obama was a white man, he'd still be a nothing low-level senator from Illinois. Fact is:the MSM ,and much of liberalism, is so hungry for a black man they can get behind(to prove they don't see color,I guess) they grabbed this smooth talking junior senator with a level of speaking talent, but no real substance on the issues ("We can do better" is not a policy specific, OK? Got it?) and hyped him to the point of no return. It's not all his fault. Having 'done' politics, I can tell ya, ain't nothing stronger than a politician's ego. Having his stroked for so many consecutive months has driven all the blood from his brain, giving himself the impression he's a stud in whorehouse.

This, my friends, is Affirmative Action. The racial quota system in practice by the media. And displays for us all the pitfalls of 'Affirmative Action'. This man is absolutely NOT-qualified for the job of President. Two years in the Senate? Two lousy years with absolutely nothing to show for it 'cept a Presidential Exploratory Committee, a biography, and string of puff pieces? No solutions/policy statements/core beliefs outlined anywhere? ("We can do better" is NOT a solution. Got it?. OK.)But you see, none of this matters...
A smooth talker with a Harvard education and a law degree, growing up wealthy, spending his entire adult life in politics without ever having to hold a real job, or run a business, makes him a perfect Democrat for president. You know, the party of the 'common man'? Add black skin, and he's the perfect prop. If you don't vote for him, you must be racist. Can't you see the appeal?
And his life has been so full, in his forties, he even has a biography. Never in recent history has a few terms in the Illinois statehouse been seen as bonafide certification of a Statesman. The last time we had one of these, millions of Americans started killing each other in human waves to save a presidency and prevent democracy and self-determination.

And what is with the biography? Anybody who writes a biography in his forties is so self-absorbed to be a non-starter for for anybody with a thinking mind.

One of Obama's few strengths is the ability to tell both sides what they want to hear. He's knows the power of validation.Of, course, for this he is well positioned. Growing up rich and white, the son of an absent negro father, I'd say his life is both sides of two cliches. Instead of speaking Truth to Power, he speaks Feelgood without substance. "We can do better". 'Pablum for the Masses' should be his slogan.

Obama has spent much of his formative years living outside the United States. This gives him unique insights to the difficulty of growing up black in America. (It must have been his birth in the Jim Crow state of Hawaii that gives him this level of street cred.) Or maybe his wife told him, since she fears for his safety everyday, presumably by a white guy full of mindless racial hatred(aren't we all?).
"the realities are that... as a black man... Barack can get shot going to the gas station,">link

Has she ever heard of this guy?

My advice to Democrats with a fetish for empty black suits: We can do better.

Go Bears!

The Super Bowl is about two great teams playing against each other for the big prize.
Contrary to the media buzz, it isn't about what color the coach is, or how many years a supposedly great quarterback has failed to finish the job he started, somehow making him more deserving of The Ring.

The irony here, at least to me, at this moment, is that a much maligned, supposedly suckie quarterback, can very well do in his first full season what the supposedly great quarterback has failed at throughout his career.

When the day is over, the Ring will go to the team that earns it, regardless of who is supposed to be entitled to it.

I'm a little prejudiced here, but I'm predicting the Bears are gonna bring football to the Colts in a way the pundits didnt expect.

Can I hear an AMEN?

Public Service Announcement: Dont Try This At Home

Had some grits left over from last night, so I tried to reheat them in the microwave for breakfast this morning.
It dont work.
Dont do it.
Bad.
Just.
Bad.

Taking a Cue from Kal...

You Are a "Don't Tread On Me" Libertarian

You distrust the government, are fiercely independent, and don't belong in either party.
Religion and politics should never mix, in your opinion... and you feel opressed by both.
You don't want the government to cramp your self made style. Or anyone else's for that matter.
You're proud to say that you're pro-choice on absolutely everything!

These test are kinda fun, and in this case, I'd say reasonably accurate. Although putting me in a catagory of Libertarian may be a little off base since I havent smoked a joint in what.. 19yrs I think. Also, on this test the questions leave out the details.

The statement: "Religion and politics should never mix" is so far off the mark because it is an impossibilty. Maybe if they said "Church" instead of "religion" it would be more fitting. Political convictions are religiously held if they are to be convictions at all.

For Sharing

Vas has just about said it all in respect to those Lite-Brite non-bombs in Boston.

See? Sometimes I Rethink My Opinion

California law maker Sally Lieber has proposed legislation making it a jailing offense to spank children or "any of that". Although I'm not sure on the specifics of what "any of that" constitutes, this is California, where ,ya know...we just kinda make shit up as we go along. Let the judge figure it out on appeal,I guess.
*link*

As if to compete with Sally, Lloyd Levine, another brilliant California lawmaker, has proposed his own dim-witted legislation to ban traditional light bulbs in the state by 2012.*link*

Though I am still not totally 'on board', these two are really giving me a reason to support a jewish homeland afterall.
