Why would a 6'5" NFL player need to bring a pistol to a nightclub? Is he afraid of getting raped in the men's room, or something?

Occam's Razor applies here, Gino. Because he's a dumbass.

I'm reminded of what my carry permit instructor noted about guns and drinking liquor: he sighed, and said "we shouldn't need to discuss this..."

I carry my pistol to most places I go. I don't frequent night clubs, so I guess that's okay.

But, being 6'5" doesn't make one bulletproof. If he had one, others may have as well.

What I'm saying is: unless he wasn't allowed to carry a gun (i.e., felon), then it shouldn't concern us that he's 6'5" and packing.

Agreed. But here, he's 6'5", DRINKING, and packing without being terribly careful about where his trigger finger goes. Let's just say I'm glad this former MSU standout (I'm an alumnus there too) only managed to hit himself, and not seriously.

I'm with you BB. I've heard some about this incident and it sounds like he's an idiot.

Here is my take: There should not be a law against carrying a gun in a club. Perhaps there can be an extra sentence used against some dumbass who uses a gun irresponsibly while drunk.

If a privately owned club doesn't want guns in the club, that is their prerogative, you know what I mean?

I just hate it when the government takes away a person's right to defend his self or herself. Take 9/11 for example. By telling law abiding citizens that they cannot pack heat on a plane, supposedly people with box cutters were able to use them as missiles. Had we really respect all the Amendments to the Constitution, our people would have been able to form a militia right then and there and take out the people who supposedly killed our American brethren.

[I know that makes me sound like a 9/11 truther, but I'm not completely convinced of the story being pushed on us as complete truth. I think there is a little more to it.]

To conclude, the NFL guy is an idiot.

i'm a 2A as the next guy, but still, i dont bring heat to church, to work, or basically anywhere.

maybe this dude is just too ghetto to know the difference?

That's because you live in a backwards state that doesn't have shall issue concealed carry, Gino. :^) I carry often at church, with the express encouragement of the church facilities director, who was also my permit instructor.

Gino,

I most definitely bring heat to church. I have to carry it at work.

I take my heat everywhere I go. Thankfully, I live in Arizona so it's easier to be able to carry even if I weren't in my current occupation.

I work with an element most people don't know exists unless they're part of that element. Because I do, I know that someday some shitbag might want to come up on me and as long as I can, I will not be a victim.

There is a saying amongst many of us who carry a lot: It's better to have it and not need than need it and not have it.

As far as the NFL player (I still don't know who this guy is), perhaps he is too ghetto. I don't know him to say that. And I know it is against the law in most states to carry a gun inside a bar. I do so with the authority I have (I can even carry on a plane).

Since it is against the law for the NFL player to do so, he's should not have carried it. But, your initial question was why would he need to. I say that he might need to because as a NFL player, he's going to have a target on his back for some dude trying to make a name for himself.

There are people out there who will kill someone just because he'd be a trophy on the inside.

Take that dude who killed his pregnant wife, Scott Peterson is it? He's bascially a notorious celebrity. Even the whites would kill him in San Quentin just to have that trophy.
