All You People Are Fucking Nuts

I don't get all this violence going on regarding the election.
I'm reading about folks getting beat up for having the wrong bumper sticker, homes fired on for having a sign in front, all the hate from the comics and celebs, the hateful emails...

Folks need to just get a grip.
This election will not change the course of history.
The blue-collar dudes will still be blue-collar.
The wealthy will still be wealthy.
And the Wall Street cronies of both political parties will still be living lives very different from the rest of nation.
Too many are taking this way too personally.

Everybody, and that means you, too.Just relax.
See a movie.
Call your Mom.
Play with your kids.
Go fishing.
Make love to your wife.
A million other things could be done that are a lot more important to your life than joining one of the two sides who will be angry, and may be rioting, on November 5th.

On another note:
I just love the weather in Dixie this time of year. Right now, there ain't no place else I'd rather be.

I was trying to explain to my kids, why they didn't see any McCain signs in our heavily-Obama-signed city wasnot because Obama is a clearly better choice, but probably partly because a small number of Obama supporters were likely to hurt McCain supporters and feel like they would get away with it because so many people would 'understand' their desire to beat up people who were so very wrong.

How if I theoretically was a strong McCain supporter (which I'm not--I wouldn't put up a sign for either major ticket, they are both disgusting), I would have to decide if it was a real risk to my children, or to the car I rely on, or to the house.

That is a really stupid thing to have to explain to gradeschool kids. Partly, though, I am hoping to instill the understanding that despite all the things they hear here in Portland, Barak Obama is not the American Messiah. (Rather like "the American Catholic Church"--um, nope, sorry; there is only one ... and trying to use that model while rejecting it, is kinda guaranteed to fail. Duh.)

On the other hand, it's not like I live in, say, Iraq, or the nation of Georgia, or ...

Our neighborhood is 50/50. I'm amused by the view of the houses alongside the street we take in and out of the neighborhood... one family put out a McCain sign on their corner, the people across the street put out an Obama sign facing the McCain house... then the McCain people re-set their sign so it's facing the Obama sign. The Obama people put a second sign out on the other side of their driveway.

The passive-aggressiveness is funny... but I can't help but drive through the neighborhood and wonder if anyone is going to get their house egged or TP'd (or worse?) for voting for the "wrong" candidate.

The country is so polarized from one extreme to the other that it'll be interesting to see the voter turn out this year.

And Gino... you want me to make love to my wife?!?

Jade, if you're going to make love to your wife, can you post some pictures, LOL?

Kris.

P.S. I'm too lazy to log in today.

I'm with you Gino. My daily life, and the issues of where does the money we have go, hasn't changed through my adult life, starting with Carter up to G.W. I even survived the Clinton years. I'm sure we'll survive the Obama or McCain years as well.

Whoever wins, it's not going to stop the psychos from the far left and right from continuing to whine and rant about whatever issue du jour is pushing their button.

We could discuss this till the cows come home, but one last point. I have to shake my head at the bozos who seem to think that the whole rest of the world is going to fall in love with America if Obama is elected; they think this will be like a diamond commercial---we give them Obama to show how much we care. The world will continue to find reasons to hate us; but, tough, the rest of the world is basically in a cesspool of their own making anyway.

That good weather you're having is because of the Republican party.
