Perspective

One of these is an American icon representing success, quality, and excellence.

The other traffics in the brutal deaths of otherwise gentle animals.

If you have a point other than the obvious it is FAR to subtle for me to catch.

reverse them.

ok,
we'll just add this one to the lead balloon catagory.

Greg Easterbrook over at ESPN's Page Two raised a similar issue today: the cow you eat has a pretty shitty life too. Intersting point. I don't minimize what Vick did, but Ray Lewis was party to a stabbing murder and didn't miss a week, did he....

thanks kal, now i dont feel like the proverbial tree in the forest.

its just dogs, anyway.
dogs.
just dogs.
not even cute ones.

Lead balloon.
Farmers kill animals for others food.
Vick didn't eat the dogs, or sell their meat.
And if he did...

If you're killing something for its meat, at least your killing it for a purpose.

Oops, forgot to end with an ellipsis...

but killing for fun is also a purpose, isnt it?

Yeah, but it's a purpose I don't agree with, which makes it morally wrong. [I've got a can of worms, and I know how to use it!]

Hey, apathyboy is back :)! And he'e even declaring someone else's actions morally wrong! No way ;) !

Gino, I came over here (from Andy's of course) expecting to see this post and still had to think about it. But, thinking is good ;).

I'm working on figuring out how my meat is killed (right now I'm mostly hoping that Temple Grandin is taking over the cow-killing industry), but I went vegetarian in objection to "farm" (factory) "living" (fattening) conditions and only came back after "humanely raised meat" became available. I'm still wishy washy on pigs...

anyhow,
animal=food, is natural (at least herbivores, anyhow)
dog=kills other dog(s), probably not

and ALL of them should be treated with respect in any case no matter what.
